First Marionette Workshop held by John Kennedy (limited access)

John Kennedy, professional marionette maker and puppeteer, worked in many projects related with Jim Henson universe, from Sesame Street and Muppets Tonight to films like Muppets in space. Kennedy will organize two workshops where the participants will be able to build their own marionettes from every day usage elements and will learn the secrets of the art of creating characters and giving them life. A great chance to learn having fun, ideal for parents with their children.

Table “Muppets, music and magic: Jim Henson’s legacy”

Jim Henson was and will always be one of the greatest artists that XX Century gave us. Because if one of the secrets of a good artist lies behind creation of an own universe, with inhabitants, rules and unique particular purposes, Henson succeeded several times on this regard. There are the Muppets, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, the taleteller and a great number of characters to give testimony of this. Accompanying the tribute paid to Henson’s work will be his daughter Heather, who will offer an open talk to the public about the unlimited universe created by the responsible for having cheered so many infancies around the world.

Talk with Masters: Jerry Carlson. Independent North American Cinema yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The talk will illustrate the different ways of production in the independent North American cinema, in three different moments: 1920, 1980 and XXI Century. We will screen scenes of three films of the mentioned times: Within Our Gates (1920), by Oscar Micheaux, Return of the Secaucus Seven (1980), by John Sayles, and Dirt (2003), by Nancy Savoca.

Silver Wedding Anniversary: Memories from de first time

It will be exhibited a short film of 10 minutes in charge of ACCA and the audiovisual area of INCAA, commemorating the 50 anniversary of Mar del Plata Competitive First Festival. It will be also screened the film Wild Strawberries by Ingmar Bergman, awarded by the first Official Jury of Mar del Plata International Film Festival in 1959. ACCA presents the masterpiece by the Sweden genius, which counted with characters like Victor Sjöstrom and Bibi Anderson. José Martínez Suárez, Director of the Festival will grant a tribute plaque to the Argentinean Cinematographic Reporters Association representatives.
