The 25th edition countdown is on. A silver edition that will count with the presence of two prolific directors: Bruce Beresford and Hal Hartley. Australia and the United States will be represented by these filmmakers who marked world cinematography with their different styles and narratives.
Bruce Beresford's presence will provide vital support for a powerful retrospective of Australian films including a number of major titles such as Wake in Fright, by Ted Kotcheff (1971), Proof, by Jocelyn Moorhouse (1991) and Cars That Ate Paris, by Peter Weir (1974).
Naturally, Beresford will have his own place in this focus, with the monumental blockbuster epic known as Breaker Morant (1980) and the disturbing Money Movers (1978).
Hal Hartley’s work behind the camera may be enjoyed in a complete retrospective of the great American filmmaker, key figure in independent film and cinematographic authorship.
Beresford and Hartley. Two big names, a sign of everything that has to offer the 25th Mar del Plata International Film Festival. |

Mar del Plata International Film Festival, organized by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), the Municipality of General Pueyrredon and the Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires Province, informs that its 25º edition will be held from 13th to 21st of November, 2010, and not from 20th to 28th as it was previously announced.
The rescheduling responds to the fact that the XX Ibero-American Summits of Heads of States and Governments will take place in Mar del Plata from December 1st to 4th, 2010. For this major event 24 Presidents will be arriving to the City and the security measures that will be displayed as well as the spaces that will be used, would hamper the normal development of our Festival. |

As we had said earlier, our Festival attended the 63rd Cannes Festival. The delegation was formed by General Producer Bárbara Keen and the Programmers Marcelo Alderete and Pablo Conde. Many films were seen, several meeting were held and many proposals were made. There are a lot of surprises in the pipeline. After all a Festival doesn´t turn 25 every year. |
