Today at 5.00 pm in Room 1 of Paseo Aldrey, he will offer a Master Class
The father of Philippine independent cinema is here with us! Kidlat Tahimik has crossed oceans to be present at this 30° Edition, which offers a retrospective of his films. Also, the director of Perfumed Nightmare will give a Master Class where he will speak about his cinema, with screenings of fragments and an installation.
"Quiet Thunder”, the literal translation of his name, will make his debut here in Mar del Plata. Video Diaries of Kidlat Tahimik –a compilation of five short films- and Balikbayan #1 will be the first two films we will enjoy. The retrospective also includes 11 films that will be screened throughout the Festival.
There are more than enough reasons to discover –or rediscover- this vital director. We have a unique opportunity. Impossible not to watch the films of the man who stated: "I was crazy while I was doing that film and I’m still crazy. Sometimes I wonder how certain elements end up in my films”.
