Everything begins today

The 31stFestival starts. The city and the country are wearing cinema to receive the new edition of the great audiovisual art celebration.

 
The red carpet is already unfolded. The reflectors light the entrance of the Auditorium Theater. Everything’s ready to celebrate, once more, the beginning of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.

The opening will be at 9 pm, with the president of National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts Alejandro Cacetta, the president of the Festival José Martínez Suárez and the artistic director Fernando Peña as hosts.
 
Furthermore, the Secretary of Culture and Creativity of the National Ministry of Culture, Enrique Avogadro, authorities of the Municipality of General Pueyrredón and national and international figures such as the well known French director Olivier Assayas will be present.
 
When the film Neruda, by Pablo Larraín, starts to be screened in Astor Piazolla Room, the Festival will get under way to live 10 days of pure adrenaline.
 
More than 400 titles are part of this year program. Film lovers from all over the world come to Mar del Plata to enjoy the best selection of films of 2016, apart from the most outstanding retrospectives, tributes and special activities.
 
Tributes, guests and outstanding talks as the one of Vittorio Storaro- besides the screening of Apocalypse Now (Redux)- the presence of Oliver Assayas, and the unique opportunity to witness the talk between Pierre Léon and Matías Piñeiro, are some of this edition proposals for all tastes.
 
You will also be able to appreciate classics of silent films with live orchestra, cinema on the beach and the possibility to see the Festival talks on Streaming.
 
Until November 27th you will be able to enjoy the best films and the most interesting special activities.
