The Mar del Plata International Film Festival – with the support of the Argentine Association of Film and Audiovisual Studies (AsAECA) calls for the 7th edition of the International Contest for Critical Studies of Argentine Cinema, "Domingo Di Núbila".
The purpose of the competition is to foster the theoretical studies on the national film industry and therefore, summons researchers, teachers, critics, directors, film students and general public from around the world. The current edition theme is "The Film and the Audiovisual Industry in Argentina: aesthetics, historiographic problems, authors and styles, technology and means”.
The deadline to submit materials is September 30th, 2018. It is expected that the essays, from an original and theoretically based perspective, deal with topics related the Argentine Film and Audiovisual Industry, either in their historical stages, in their conceptual problems or on their contemporary modes of expression and development.
A first prize of $20,000 in cash will be awarded and two special mentions consisting of diplomas.
The winner will also receive a free trip from any place in Argentina to the Mar del Plata Film Festival, which will include two nights of hotel accommodation.
In addition, five papers will be selected to be published in the Festival website, in www.mardelplatafilmfest.com and in a special section of the electronic magazine Imagofagia, the academic publication by AsAECA.
