From its first edition in 1954, the Festival relies on its superb location in the city of Mar del Plata, the iconic and beautiful Argentine beach that combines the architectural classical style of the beginning of the 20th century with modern buildings and many miles of coastline. The Festival is based on the historic Hotel Provincial. Designed by architect Alejandro Bustillo and built in 1937 in the Rambla Casino, this famous construction displays a neoclassical style and features a very attractive view of the sea and its shore.
The city and the Festival offer visitors first class accommodation a few feet away from the Atlantic Ocean and a rich historical, cultural and artistic environment, a must-see of the region, located only 400 km away from the Argentine Capital. The journey to Mar del Plata from Buenos Aires can be made by aerial or terrestrial transportation, according to international guests’ preference.
Besides, the city features a select and extensive range of gastronomy that combines regional and international flavors. The warm oceanic weather –with an average temperature of 23 degrees Celcius- makes November the perfect time to enjoy the city in all its splendor.
