Must-Sees - Homage to Fernando "Pino" Solanas
With an emotional double program, the Festival carried out its homage to the great Fernando Pino Solanas, the fundamental figure of Argentine culture and politics who recently left us. In the first place, Victoria Solanas, Juan Solanas and Flexa Correa Lopes recalled in Testimonies at his departure (with the moderation of Bebe Kamin) the familiar and intimate circumstances that surrounded and traversed the best-known works and events in the life of Pino Solanas, in addition of the development of the family bond over time.
And later was the turn of his friends, colleagues and other figures from the Argentine and international film industry: Javier Angulo (director of the Festival de Valladolid, Spain), Pedro Armocida (director of the Mostra internazionale del Nuovo Cinema di Pesaro, Italy), Thierry Frémaux (general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, France), Gian Luca Farinelli (director of the Cineteca de Bolonia, Italy), Félix “Chango” Monti (cinematographer, Argentina), Carlos Macías (editor, Argentina), Tristán Bauer (Minister of Culture, Argentina) and Luis Puenzo (President of INCAA, Argentina) expressed their feelings and appreciation for Solanas. A deserved homage that the Festival added to the exhibition of four films by the director: The Hour of the Furnaces, The Journey, The South and Tangos: The Exile of Gardel.
