All around Córdoba there has been a looting spree, and the police are arresting lots of young people. Amid the turmoil, teenager Juliana becomes pregnant by her boyfriend Lautaro. Juliana wants to have an abortion, but she’s scared of doing it with pills and they can’t afford a procedure. The film by Inés Barrionuevo and Gabriela Vidal, inspired by Vidal’s novel Los chicos de las motitos, kicks off from this simple premise and builds a narrative of great beauty. That beauty is born from details; from small moments that reveal themselves as enormous, such as those scenes where the characters dance or Juli’s escapes through the tile roof of her home, but it also comes from some excellently built characters whose interactions are so relatable we inevitably grow fond of them. A film that is generous with its characters as well as its audience, and which also gives us one of the most beautiful endings you will see in this entire Festival.
