Argentine films awarded at the Málaga Film Festival

Argentine films awarded at the Málaga Film Festival

The closing ceremony of the 24th edition of the Málaga Film Festival took place this past June 13th with Santiago Segura as master of ceremonies. The festival winners, including two Argentine productions, were announced at the ceremony.

Las motitos, by Inés Barrionuevo and Gabriela Vidal, received the Silver Biznaga for the Best Iberoamerican Film in the ZonaZine section and the Silver Biznaga for the Best Actress went to Carla Gusolfino.
Las motitos was also part of the program of the 24th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival (June 11 – 20), and had its world premiere in the Argentine Competition of the 35th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.

Homenaje a la obra de Philip Henry Gosse, the short film by Pablo Martín Weber, won the Silver Biznaga for the Best Short Documentary Film. The film was part of the Argentine Short Film Competition in the 35th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
Homenaje a la obra de Philip Henry Gosse also participated in the last edition of the Jeonju International Film Festival, the True/False Film Fest (Columbia, Missouri), the Images Festival of Canada (dedicated to independent and experimental film) and the International Independent Film Festival of Cosquín (FICIC).

Finally, the first feature film by the Argentine director Juan Pablo Félix, Karnawal, also participated in the 24th edition of the Málaga Film Festival winning the Gold Biznaga for the Best Iberoamerican Film, and the Silver Biznaga for the Best Actor went to the Chilean actor Alfredo Castro.
