Must-Sees - Book Presentation Panel: What Will Become of Cinema? Postcards for the Future
Based on an idea by Marcelo Alderete, programmer of the Festival, the book What Will Become of Cinema? Postcards for the Future registers more than seventy texts about the future of cinema, its guidelines and rituals, written by filmmakers, actresses and actors, programmers, critics and distributors. Its presentation took place in an event that began with the words of Cecilia Barrionuevo, Director of the Festival, who pointed out that the question of the title “began to emerge by itself and from Bazin’s question about what cinema is, to think about what it will be of cinema and what is going to happen with cinema in its broadest sense”. Pablo Marín, one of the producers of the book along Malena Rey, added that “there is a lot of life in the texts. The most interesting thing about the book is the sharing. There is a great voice through all these authors that speaks of a great sense of community”.
The talk ended with a luxurious presence: the Piel de Lava group (Elisa Carricajo, Valeria Correa, Pilar Gamboa and Laura Paredes) contributed their voice and body to some of the collaborations in the book. The book, compiled by Cecilia Barrionuevo and Marcelo Alderete, can be downloaded for free in the “Publications” section of the Festival website.
