Madres paralelas, the new film by Pedro Almodóvar, will be the closing film

The 36th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival proudly announces that the film by the removed director Pedro Almodóvar, "Madres paralelas" (Parallel Mothers), thanks to the participation of Netflix, will participate as closing film.

Courtesy of Netflix, the screening in theaters of the long-awaited feature film by the Spanish filmmaker will mark the closing of this edition of the Festival. The melodrama, in which motherhood and historical memory intersect, stars Penélope Cruz, Milena Smit, Aitana Sánchez Gijón, Rossy de Palma, Israel Elejalde and Julieta Serrano.

Madres paralelas is a production of El Deseo, Radio Televisión Española (RTVE), Remotamente Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The projections will be held on Friday the 26th at 6:00 pm and on Sunday the 28th at 6:00 pm and again that same day at 9:00 pm, all in the Sala Astor Piazzolla of the Teatro Auditorium.
 
In addition to the closing film, within the Auteurs section, the festival includes three films screened in person courtesy of Netflix: The Power of the Dog, by Jane Campion, The Hand of God, by Paolo Sorrentino and The Lost Daughter, by Maggie Gyllenhaal.
