The University Video Library of the Secretary of Extension of the National University of Mar del Plata, non-commercial INCAA theater, organizes the 16th edition of 24 Hours of Argentine Film, from Saturday, November the 5th at 12 to Sunday, November the 8th at the same hour. It is a "cinephile marathon" with 24 hours of uninterrupted screenings, a whole day and an entire night dedicated to Argentine cinema. This activity was born in 2008 in the Secretary of University Policies of Argentina's Ministry of Education, under the national coordination of professor Guillermo De Carli, and was deactivated in 2011, its continuity left at the hands of each university. The spirit of the activity was to generate a network that would relate university, film and libraries and then to schools, prisons and hospitals. The National University of Mar del Plata has decided to continue to spread their own content as well as that of Argentine cinema in general, due to which we are now celebrating 15 consecutive years and the screening of around 600 films including short-, mid- and feature-length films. Since the year 2010, we've been part of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival program thanks to the interest from someone who used to be its president, filmmaker José Martínez Suárez, whom we consider our "cinematic godfather." The 24 Hours of Argentine Cinema take place at the Melany room of the Art Center, located in 1750, San Luis street (full program in www.mdp.edu.ar).
