Duro de matar

A section of this festival wonders, with its very title, “How much time is a century?” and it offers a powerful answer with its programming. But if the question were “how much adrenaline is there in 35 floors?” the answer would be just two words: Die Hard. And answering that question is what John McClane, a New York police officer passing through Los Angeles, has been doing since 1988, every time this film appears on a screen. And he is doing it again 34 years later, in 2022, in Mar del Plata, armed only with his service pistol and his tank top, making the terrorist Hans Gruber once again pay for having the audacity to once again seize the imposing Nakatomi Plaza. Far from having rusted it, 34 years have made this high-precision narrative machinery only more solid, spectacular and entertaining. All that with just two words.
