In the year 2069, Alfonso de São Benedito de Mogadouro, the king of Portugal, lays dying at a hospital, where he starts to remember the days of his youth. Back in 2011, the man, still a prince, suffers from an identity crisis—he continues studying Art History –not very enthusiastically– while he goes through an emerging sexual awakening and starts worrying about the future of the environment. This is why, in spite of his parents’ surprise and mockery, Alfonso volunteers at a fire station. Among drills and training sessions, he meets an instructor with whom he starts a relationship he will never forget; not even on his deathbed. In the form of a musical, João Pedro Rodrigues again proves that it’s not necessary to resort to solemnity when covering issues as delicate as class, ecology or sexuality itself.
