Le petit Nicholas - Qu’est-ce qu’on attend pour être heureux?
Little Nicholas - Happy as Can Be
Little Nicholas… is the first animated film version of one of the most famous and beloved characters in French comics. But he is so much more than that. Amandine Fredon and Benjamin Massoubre bring to life on the big screen the adventures and fantasies not only of little Nicolas, but also of their creators, comic legends Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny. Exploring the ties between biography and fiction, and giving animated form to the creative process, the film transforms into a moving dialogue between authors and characters; an invitation to immerse ourselves in a shared world made of ink and watercolor that comes to life before our very eyes to speak to us – as Sempé and Goscinny have always done from the page – about how wonderful the everyday can be, and about the magic of friendship and of creation.
Amandine Fredon is a filmmaker, screenwriter and cartoonist. During the last few years, she has directed a number of animated series for French television.
Benjamin Massoubre is a director, screenwriter and editor. As an editor, he worked on such projects as I Lost My Body (2019, Jérémy Clapin).
