Antonio Poyju, a shaman and warlock who defines himself as “intermediary between worlds,” is locked up in a mental institution against his will. After a revelation and a talk with the beyond, he finds out that his daughter is being threatened by a demon that wants to sacrifice her in order to release an evil over the world. In order to save her, he must escape the institution and get her skeptical daughter to believe in his father’s powers again. In Legions, Fabián Forte manages to create a rarefied, permanently threatening atmosphere by making use of the fantastic world he has created. With terrifying sequences and a complete trust in his characters, he brazenly submerges himself into the waters of the bloodiest genre cinema, and succeeds. A film that, as the disclaimer at the beginning reads, is filled with terrible things and surrounded by inexplicable forces.
