For Ana the ocean is the palpable border of a world that she is outgrowing. Marked by traditions and religion, life on the small Portuguese island of São Miguel clearly dictates which places belong to men and which belong to women. But being a teenager means venturing to expand the limits: together with her friend Luis, who wears glitter with pride, and mobilized by the visit of a friend who comes from abroad, Ana discovers another possible world in which gender is not a prison, but rather a choice, and where something similar to freedom can exist. Claudia Varejão tackles her first fiction feature film with the tools acquired in her documentaries and, hand in hand with an extraordinary group of non-professional actors who lend the characters their bodies and experience, she builds a coming-of-age story that is, at the same time, the sensitive portrait of a community
