Jean-Gab and Manu are childhood friends. When, moved by the need to make money, they partake in some shady business, they discover a giant fly in the trunk of a car, and call it Dominique. The friends search for the way to make money from the fly, and in their path, they find a series of diverse characters—from a hermit living in a cabin to a group of girls they supposedly know from school. A kind of bizarre buddy movie, Mandibles covers different film genres without ever losing focus of what is really important—the friendship between Jean-Gab and Manu. As in his previous films, here, Quentin Dupieux starts off from a delirious premise as an excuse to explore his characters’ most humane side.
