The Kegelstatt Trio
Among talks about loves and classical music, Paul (Pierre Léon) and Adélia (Rita Durão) recall their past as a couple and reveal all that brought them together and, above all, the difference that triggered the abrupt ending. But the meetings begin to be interrupted by the shooting of a film about the probably fictitious couple. The presence of the director (Ado Arrieta) exposes an artifice that begins to wane in the audience, sequence after sequence, thanks to the hypnotic conversations between Paul and Adélia. Is The Kegelstatt Trio a film about how the encounters between former lovers flow or is it simply a fiction about another fiction? Based on a play by Éric Rohmer, filmmaker Rita Azevedo Gomes again poses questions about human relationships, using —with her usual virtuosity— each and every one of the creative possibilities cinema can provide.
