A Dream as in Colours
“Oh, finally!” Valeria Sarmiento says Dutch filmmaker Joris Ivens expressed when shown, during a trip to Chile, this first work by the filmmaker. Because it was a time when this type of productions mainly favored political matters related to class struggle, and the appearance of this short about women doing striptease in the most renowned clubs in her country was a welcome anomaly, even if it was also condensed by its scandalous boldness. This early short about gender perspective that studied and explored the role of women marked the beginning of a long career that continues to this day.
