The 39th Mar del Plata International Film Festival continues with interesting screenings and outstanding activities that keep the public loving this celebration of cinema.
This was how the 4th day of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival went!

In the International Competition, Aïcha, by Tunisian director Mehdi M. Barsaoui, moved the audience with its depth and humanity. After the screening, the director participated in a talk with the audience, where he expressed his joy at being in Mar del Plata for the first time. There was also a presentation of There Was, There Was Not, a moving co-production between Armenia and the United States directed by Emily Mkrtichian, which left a deep impact upon the audience.

The start of the Argentine Short Film Competition took place at the Paseo Aldrey Cinemas, offering the public a varied and challenging selection of proposals. The directors present highlighted the importance of carrying out these types of projects of Argentine Cinema. The day also included the participation of the legendary actress Fernanda Mistral, who, at 90 years old, continues to leave a mark on Argentine cinema. The actress will also be part of the screening of Los venerables todos, within the framework of the 70 years of Mar del Plata section.

Another highlight was the screening of the documentary El agujerito, directed by Ana Hayzus and Leandro Elijal. The film brin gus back to the impact and magic of an iconic space through the testimonies of artists and key figures, taking the audience on a nostalgic journey that resonated deeply in the theater.

Among the most notable films of the day was La llegada del hijo, directed by Cecilia Atán and Valeria Pivato. With a deeply moving story, the film left the audience visibly moved. Later, the directors, accompanied by actor Angelo Mutti, talked with the attendees about the creative process of the film and the relevance of Argentine cinema.

The day culminated with the screening of Cuando acecha la maldad, directed by Demián Rugna. This highly anticipated film was the prelude to a special workshop on Argentine fantasy and horror cinema that will take place soon, with the participation of figures such as Rugna, Fabián Forte, Nicanor Loreti and Luca Castello, who will share their perspectives on the genre.

The Festival continues to offer a diverse and exciting program, maintaining its commitment to highlight emerging voices and celebrate the legacy of Argentine and international cinema.
