All the winners and juries in the 39th Festival closing ceremony

In a day full of emotions, the closing ceremony of the 39th Mar del Plata International Film Festival took place with the winners of the different competitions being announced. The gala took place at the Auditorium Theatre starting at 7:00 p.m., with a significant attendance of public, actors, directors and producers, who celebrated the closing of this edition.

Awards for the Official International Competition

Best Feature Length Film: Au bord du monde by Guérin van de Voorst and Sophie Muselle (Belgium)
Honorable Mention by the Jury: The Most Precious of Cargoes by Michel Hazanavicius (France)
Best Director: Matías Lucchesi for El casero (Argentina)
Best Dramatic Interpretation: Mara Taquin for acting in Au bord du monde (Belgium)
Best Script: Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman for Saturday Night (United States)
Audience Award – Best Film in the International Competition: There Was, There Was Not by Emily Mkrtichian (Armenia, United States)

Latin American Feature Length Competition

Special recognitions
During the ceremony, the Astor Piazzolla Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to two prominent figures in the world of cinema: director Héctor Olivera and Argentine Pablo Helman, recognized for his work in special effects in international productions. The most emotional moment of the night was when Olivera received a warm standing ovation from the entire room, a gesture that highlighted his invaluable contribution to Argentine cinema.

A positive balance and words from the directors
The artistic co-directors of the festival, Gabriel Lerman and Jorge Stamadianos, shared their satisfaction with this year's edition and emphasized: "This festival is an embrace to cinema and cinema embraces us back. Thank you to the public, the artists and all the international delegations and especially those from our country" and confirmed that "we look forward to seeing you in Mar Del Plata in November 2025 to celebrate the 40th edition of the International Film Festival".


With this ceremony, the 39th Mar del Plata International Film Festival closes an edition that, despite the challenges, reaffirmed its place as a platform for meeting, celebrating and recognizing the best of international cinema.
