Friday marked the day before the closing of the competitions at the 39th Mar del Plata International Film Festival, with a day full of outstanding screenings and memorable moments.

International Competition: a day of farewells
In the International Competition, The Most Precious of Cargoes by Michel Hazanavicius, was screened, and Edward Berger’s Conclave had its final showing, completing the journey of these two films in the festival.

Argentine Competition: music, emotions and great casts
The Argentine Competition had a vibrant closing with Lágrimas de fuego by Gabriel Grieco, which was attended by its director and a large part of the cast, including the iconic Fabiana Cantilo. The singer won over the audience to the rhythm of her classics, transforming the room into a unique and festive event. In addition, the last screenings of Después del final by Pablo César and No corre el viento, by Matías Malet, one of the most applauded by critics and spectators of this edition, were held.

Latin American Competition: celebrations on the screen and in the theatre
In the Latin American Competition, El silencio de Marcos Tremmer, directed by Miguel García de la Calera, stood out, with the special participation of Adriana Ugarte and Benjamín Vicuña. The Chilean actor celebrated his birthday in the middle of the performance, with a warm ovation from the audience. Also, the brothers Nicolás and Luciano Onetti presented 1978, closing the section with an enriching conversation with the spectators.

Tributes: living memory of cinema
As part of the festival's tributes, the emblematic La Patagonia rebelde was screened, with the presence of its director, Héctor Olivera, who will be recognized tonight with the Silver Astor for his Career, presented by Luis Scalella.

Closing: expectations and celebrations
Today at 7:00 pm, the festival will hold its closing ceremony, in which the winners will be announced. In addition to awarding Olivera, the Silver Astor for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to Pablo Helman, who will be honored by Litto Nebbia. The day will conclude with the screening of the closing film, Puntos suspensivos, starring the Argentine actor Diego Peretti, at 10:00 p.m. in the Auditorium Theater.

With an enthusiastic audience and a varied program, the festival bids farewell to its competitive stage to make way for a night of celebrations and recognition.
