Presenting the highlights of the sixth day of the Festival

The 39th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival continues to be a vibrant event for encountering cinema in its diversity. The day was marked by powerful screenings and tributes to key figures and films from the history of cinema.

International Competition: The day began with the screening of Una historia de amor y guerra, by Mexican director Santiago Mohar Volkow. In well attended theater, the public enjoyed a film that generated a lot of laughter and positive comments, as was reflected in the question and answer session with its director. The section also stood out with A Real Pain, by the US director Jesse Eisenberg, which continues to as one of the most talked about productions of the event.

Argentine Competition: The national screenings were headed by the presentation of Romeo y Ofelia, by Gustavo Postiglione, and the long-awaited premiere of Retratos del apocalipsis, a horror film directed by Fabián Forte, Nicanor Loreti and Luca Castello. Both screenings generated an enriching exchange between the audience and their creators, who reflected on the creativity and challenges of producing films in the current reality of Argentina.

Latin American Competition: In the short film section, audience members enjoyed works that explored various themes and styles: Nostalgia de un corazón (aún) vivo by Diego Gaxiola (Mexico), Futuro by Amanda Cots Martínez and Ángel Suárez Ávila (Cuba and Spain), Quando aqui by André Novais Oliveira (Brazil) and Nido de Cocodrilo by Jazmin Rojas Forero (Colombia). Among the feature films, El ladrón de perros by Vinko Tomičić Salinas stood out, positioning itself as one of the most interesting titles in the Latin American Competition.

The Aldrey cinemas were the setting for a special tribute to Martín Fierro by Leopoldo Torre Nilson, with the presence of his son Pablo Torre, who shared memories of this iconic work of Argentine cinema. The cinemas also hosted the tribute to Sergei Paradjanov which closed with the final screening of the cycle, complemented by the documentary "I Will Revenge This World with Love" S. Paradjanov, presented by its director Zara Jian.

The Teatro Colón once again witnessed a unique experience with the screening of The Nibelungs: Krimilda's Revenge, directed by Fritz Lang, celebrating the 100th anniversary of this masterpiece.
