Love, Women and Flowers
This documentary denounces how pesticides banned in so-called first-world countries are imported to the Third World producing what is called “the atomic bomb of the poor”. In the 70's in Bogota, entrepreneurs from the United States, France and Japan started the flower industry, taking advantage of cheap labor and good climatic conditions. The cultivation of flowers is a female occupation, employing some 70,000 women. Since they are produced for export, this requires the use of pesticides. However, this results in serious alterations in women's health and cases of death due to the dangerous nature of the chemicals used. From 2022 to 2023, Felipe Colmenares carried out the film and digital restoration of this documentary. The digitization was undertaken at the National Cinematheque of Ecuador.
