In Paris in 1938, Panama Al Brown, the first Latin American to become world boxing champion, retires after a dubious loss. Now he shines as a star at the Capricce Viennois, a second-rate cabaret on Rue Pigalle. One night, the poet Jean Cocteau is fascinated by his performance, to the point that without ever having seen a fight in his life, he offers to be his manager and lover, promising to help him regain his crown. However, as Brown struggles to return to the ring, he faces a fight deeper than fisticuffs, the fight against racism and homophobia. Brown chronicles the resilience of an afro descendant, gay boxer in his quest for dignity and recognition.
