El santo de la espada tells the story of General José de San Martín -a national hero of Argentina, Chile and Peru- from his arrival in Buenos Aires in 1812, when he met and married María de los Remedios de Escalada, to his definitive exile from Argentina. The most significant battles of the war of independence of Argentina, Chile and Peru from the Spanish crown are shown in the film.
Leopoldo Torre Nilsson
Leopoldo Torre Nilsson (Argentina) was a director, producer and writer with a vast filmography. He is one of the most important and representative directors of Argentine cinema. He directed La tigra (1954), La casa del ángel (1957), La mano en la trampa (1961) and Los siete locos (1973), among many others.
