An honest and good gaucho loses his family and everything he has when he is forcibly enlisted to fight against the Indians. Upon his return, after unsuccessfully searching for his wife and children, desperation turns him into a "bad gaucho", killing a black gaucho in a duel. Pursued by the police, he takes refuge among the Indians with his partner Cruz, who abandons the police to join him.
